Shaping the Future of European Research: IIMCB at the MSCA 30th Anniversary

On 1 October 2026, Prof. Marta Miączyńska, Director of the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB), attended the event “Celebrating 30 Years of MSCA – Curiosity That Changes the World” at the Solvay Library in Brussels. Her participation was part of RACE Work Package 6 (WP6) – Policy Shaping Meetings, supporting engagement in European research and innovation policy discussions.

Hosted by Ekaterina Zaharieva, European Commissioner for Startups, Research and Innovation, the event marked three decades of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA), which have supported more than 150,000 researchers since 1996.

Bringing together 170 participants in Brussels and over 650 online, the programme featured discussions on scientific excellence, research careers, international mobility and Europe’s ability to attract and retain research talent. A key announcement was the €210 million “Choose Europe boost”, aimed at enabling more than 700 additional researchers to develop their careers in Europe.

Prof. Miączyńska’s participation contributed to RACE’s WP6 activities, which aim to strengthen engagement with European research policy and support dialogue on the future of scientific excellence, research careers and innovation.
